Sacramento Municipal Utility District
Project Description
The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is a citizen-owned
utility providing electricity to the Sacramento region. They
offer a range of online services to their residential and commercial
customers, including  online account management and bill pay.
SMUD supports many conservation programs and owns several recreation
areas that are open to the public. We have completed a variety
of communications projects for SMUD.
Our Role
Modcom worked with SMUD to improve their website through
usability testing and user task analyses. We helped our client
to define strategies for creating successful online services
and to analyze user/website interactions. Working with SMUD
staff, we also planned and facilitated focus groups and recommended
interface and database design for a new online property manager
portal for property managers in SMUD’s service area.
